New Missions: Spring is in the Air!

Hi all! Here is a little explanation about the Spring Picnic Missions that have just arrived in Family Farm. This information may help you decide what tactics you want to follow in the game. We will explain the missions part by part. The missions will be in the game until March 18.

Harvest 35 Broccolis
Broccoli is a new seed. We haven’t yet decided if we will keep it in the game when the mission ends.

Collect 8 Frisbees
Here you have to collect 8 frisbees as free gifts from your neighbors. You can send requests directly from the mission panel. But the frisbee is also in the Free Gifts panel.
Attention: When you have successfully collected 8 frisbees, you have to click the Use button. Only after this, is the mission accomplished!! (The frisbees are then 'used' and are taken away from you gift box. This is normal.)

Buy a Picnic Set
No RC needed for this, just plain coins!

Produce 200 Beef Salami
This takes some time (5 hours in total if you have 1 Salami Machine and don’t count the time to make the Beef), but no RC. There is a nice decoration item in the reward.

Finish a Picnic Tent
The Picnic Tent has to be finished with parts (screws, rope and canvas). All parts can be requested from friends as free gifts. If you have a reasonable amount of neighbors, no RC are necessary.

Produce and collect 250 Pink Teddy Bears
If you still have the Teddy Bear Machine from the Valentine Mission, count your blessings. If you don’t, then you will have to buy and complete this machine in order to accomplish this mission. To complete the machine, you need parts. Most of them can be asked as free gifts from neighbors, only the 1 Filler and 3 Switches you need, are not. These will cost you 13 RC. However, the reward for this mission involves 3 RC, so you get 3 RC back.
Those who already have the machine, will also be rewarded 3 RC.
To produce the Pink Teddy Bears, use the Sheep’s Wool as an ingredient.
The total production time is almost 5 hours.

Wish all of you a happy Spring Picknick!

How To Accept Gifts In A Mission

Hi Everyone! We have changed some things inside the game: there is a new way to go about doing missions in which you must collect items from your friends/neighbors.

For the missions in which you must collect items from friends/nieghbors, we have added a "USE" button. This means for example...

Aviaries Missions
Take the Aviaries missions for example. One of the missions was to collect 6 Caps.
  • Naturally, you had to ask for them, recieve the request, and then accept the gift to go into your gift box.
  • When the 6 Caps are in the Gift Box you will notice there is a new "USE" button. If you did not accept any Caps or accepted them before the Quest was officially activated by you, this button will not appear.
  • When you click on the "Use" button it will accept each item needed (one at a time) to complete the Mission and then only show you the "TRADE" button. Make sure you click "USE" and not "TRADE" until you have fulfilled the amount of items needed!
  • Any excess Items still in the gift box can then be traded for 10 OP each.
We hope that this system will make the game more enjoyable and easier to understand when having to collect extra items from your friends & neighbors. We also hope to have eliminated the 'mission counter bug' this way.

We wish each of you much success during your next Mission!

Ambassador Marcie.

Candy Machine and Perfume Machine Have a New Look

Hi farmers! Two machines just got a make-over: the Candy Machine and the Perfume Machine. Their insides have not changed, they still produce the same candy and perfumes, but they just look different now.

Left the new Candy Machine, right the new Perfume Machine.

CANDY MACHINE
If the Candy Machine really looks better, that’s up to you to decide. Fact is, it has gotten cheaper! The old Candy Machine needed 2 parts that were only available for Ranch Cash, and they cost 22 RC. The new Candy Machine also needs 2 RC-only parts, but they are cheaper: you can get those for 16 RC.

The Candy Machine produces strawberry, blueberry, (black) grape, apple, orange, banana, peach and lychee candy.

Needed:
  • Level 26
  • 5,000 coins
  • 15x Gear
  • 15x …
  • 1x Spin (9 RC)
  • 1x Spring (7 RC)
  • Sugar Machine (you need Sugar to produce Candy)

PERFUME MACHINE
As far as the Perfume Machine is concerned, its appearance is really the only thing that has changed. You can still make lavender, daisy, red rose, blue rose, tulip and lily perfume.
Keep in mind: You also need the Provence Beehive (25 RC) to make the honey needed for the perfumes!

Needed:
  • Level 14
  • 500 coins
  • Provence Beehive (25 RC).

Family Farm Is Hiring Ambassadors!

Dear farmers, as Family Farm is growing, Felicia is getting more and more overworked. She could do with some help. That is why Family Farm is looking for:

2 Family Farm Ambassadors

As an Ambassador, you would be Felicia’s eyes and ears in the field! Your work would be to:

  •  Answer questions of fellow farmers on the Family Farm Fan Page, the Forum attached to the Fan Page, and the various Family Farm Groups on Facebook;
  • Address fellow farmers to the FAQ on the Family Farm Blog;
  • Write postings for the Family Farm Blog and the FAQ;
  • Tell Felicia Farmer what the main problems and sentiments among the players are;
  • Pass on great ideas for the game from you and your fellow farmers;
  • Be a moderator on the new Forum that we are currently developing.

We are looking for active farmers that spend considerable time on their farm anyway, and would like to help us shape, nurture and grow the Family Farm community. We are especially looking for farmers who live in the United States.

Of course, you don’t have to do this for nothing! As a Family Farm Ambassador, you are entitled to a monthly allowance of 100 RC for your farm!

What Good Are Love Animals?

Love Animals have a special position in the game. This guest posting by farmer Marcie Frühwirth explains it all, including hints on how to play.

1. First decide which animal you would like to feed and ask your friends for food for this animal.
Wait until you have enough food to allow it to continuously eat...at least 50 or more (otherwise it does not pay off) maybe a day or two. This is important to do beforehand because the animals only eat 2 or 3 days before they stop and become a decoration or get sent into the wilderness!
2. Buy a baby Love Animal.
Pay attention to the price and any mention of something being locked. (For example, the donkey can only be purchased until you have acheived the second level of caring for the cat.)
3. Keep receiving the love food gifts from your neighbors.
My tip is to order the food from your friends a couple of days before you plan to purchase one of these animals. The animals only eat food for 2 or 3 days and then are released or decoration objects for your farm. You will want to ge the most out of your animals by feeding them the entire time. Use your OP to keep them eating.
4. Feed the baby animal with love food.
Use OP to keep them eating and make sure the automation does not hang up...it does sometimes (turn it off  and feed it food manually, and then return to automation). You must remain online and in the game for the automation to keep working. I usually care for the forum during this time, you may choose to play another  game on a new tab :-) )
5. Collect love coins.
If you use automation, you will not have to collect it manuallly.
6. Sell the love coins or use them to exchange special items.
The coins are used to purchase zodiac animals or for more items such as the flowers (they will be harvested as the trees are on your farm) that can be eaten by the zodiac animals which in return give you diamonds.
7. Send the adult love animal to wind or keep it in your farm.
The love animal is now a decoration item for your farm or you may sell it for coins. *You will have to purchase a new one to keep feeding if you wish to make more coins than you have earned. Check the amount of coins you still need to be able to purchase the next item you wish to have on your farm and keep requesting the food you need to fill the love animal. all extra food may only be placed on your farm and then deleted if you do not need it for your animal anymore.
Animals available are:
  • Panda (20 RC) makes panda coins worth 320 coins
  • Donkey (20,000 coins and after mastering level 2 cat) make cat coins worth 300 coins
  • Cat (15,000 coins) makes cat coins worth 250 coins
  • Deer (3,500 coins) makes deer coins worth 140 coins
ZODIAC ANIMALS
These animals can be purchased only with the coins made from love animals. There are at the moment 2 Zodiac animals available and are nice decorations for the farm and produce (when fed the correct food) diamonds. The diamonds are worth more than the coins from the love animals, and there will be something coming from the developers soon where we can spend these diamonds on something special. The correct food can also be purchased with the love animal coins. This is almost like buying a tree. The Flower(food for the specific Zodiac animal) can be harvested and fed to the particular Zodiac Animal and it gives you diamonds in return.
Currently available for purchase are...
  • Ice Scenery for your farm: Costs 100 cat coins
  • The Sagittarious Horse (unicorn): Costs 40 panda coins and  60 cat coins. Makes Sagittarious diamonds worth 58 coins.
  •  The Sagittarious Flower (food every 8 hours): Costs 60 cat coins.
  •  The Capricorn Bear: Costs 40 deer coins and 40 cat coins; Makes Capricorn diamonds worth 48 coins.
  •  The Capricorn Flower(food every 12 hours): Costs 60 deer coins.

Downgrading the Greenhouse: Lower Level Needed

We will be downgrading the Greenhouse: soon you will not need to be level 18 anymore before you can start building the Greenhouse. It will most likely be downgraded to level 11.

The reason for this, is that some farmers have brought it to our attention that they are in level 10 or 11 when they get the mission to build a Greenhouse.

Everything You Want To Know About Family Farm’s Peanut Butter & Polo Shirt

Hi farmers! We just introduced 2 new great products in Family Farm, and here is a little
explanation about them.

PEANUT BUTTER
How could we ever live without Peanut Butter?
The machine to use here is the Butter Machine. This machine is available from level 42 and you don’t have to use any RC to complete this machine.

(Unless… you don’t have the Cream Machine yet. The Cream Machine (available from level 31) needs to be completed with parts. Most of them are available as free gifts from your neighbors, but you’ll still need to use 22 RC to complete the Cream Machine. Luckily, there are more products for which you can use Cream from this machine (and there will be even more in the near future!), so you don’t spend these RC for nothing. The best way to get free RC in the game is to log in every day.)

The ingredients for Peanut Butter are Peanuts and Cream. Peanut Butter sells for 427 coins and it takes the Butter Machine 50 seconds to make a jar of Peanut Butter.

Once you have all the machines and animals, this is the profit margin:
Cost: Egg (=Corn 60 coins) + Milk (=Clover 15) + Peanut 160 = 235 coins
Sell for: 427 coins.
Profit: 427-235=192 coins per jar.

Summary:
Peanut + Cream = Peanut Butter.
Needed:
  • Level 42 or higher
  • Peanut Butter Machine
  • Cream Machine
  • Cow
  • Chicken
POLO SHIRT
The Polo Shirt in production.

The Polo Shirt is made by the Weaver (weaving machine), which does not require any RC at all! It does require Level 30.

The ingredient is Cotton (level 55). Just put Cotton into the Weaver and exactly 1 minute later, you are the proud owner of a Polo Shirt. These shirts sell for 284 coins each. Cotton costs 250 coins per crop, so once you have the Weaver, the profit is 34 coins per shirt.

Other changes
In this update, we also implemented some other changes:
  • The Cake Machine has, for the time being, been added to the New tab in the Store.
  • The Limited Edition items in the Store have been taken offline.
  • To increase the view on your farm, we moved the Love Animal Panel to the right of the screen. This caused the Special Delivery to move to the left.
  • The way to skip missions has been customized a little. Rather than skip the whole mission, you can now skip missions part by part. (It remains to involve RC.) The implementation of a timer on some missions will be carried out in a later update, this should be a matter of weeks.

What Family Farm Will Have To Offer: An Update On Your Ideas

Dear farmers, this post is just to give you a small update about what is becoming of the ideas you all have sent us lately... or the not-becoming. Of course, we would be happy to implement anything you suggest! Unfortunately, that is not always possible. For example, not all ideas are compatible with the game's technical programming, and some ideas may be vetoed by the superiors or yours truly. However, even if 9 ideas out of 10 would not make it into the game, there is still so much that we can and will do!

Let's begin with the bad news. The ideas to share stuff you have and that you find useless with your neighbors who may find them more useful, did not make it. Also it has been decided not to introduce a lot of super fast growing crops - we're afraid our servers will not be able to handle the ginormous amount of extra operations this is likely to generate. (Our servers have some trouble already, as you may have noticed; we think it's better to fix that first.)

Mission Timer and Horse
The good news is that we are currently developing a solution for those who do not want to do (some of the) missions and neither want to skip them by paying RC. What we are developing, is a timer that can be set on specific missions. If you want to skip a mission that has a timer, all you have to do is wait a few days, and the mission will be exchanged for another one. The downside is: you won't get the reward either, but that may speak for itself.

This not the horse, it's the unicorn
("Sagittarius Horse") that we
already have in the game.
Another good thing is that we are happy to announce that a Horse is on its way to Family Farm! All versions of the game, from all over the world, have been lobbying like maniacs for the Horse to come. The problem was always: what will a Horse produce? We were reluctant to introduce such a noble animal just as a decoration, but finally the Horse will serve a real purpose.... It should arrive in a matter of weeks.

And there is even more good news: a Beautiful Farm contest will soon start in Family Farm. You can make a head start if you want! More news about this is coming soon...

Hints For The Latest Valentine Missions

Hi farmers! Some of you have asked us for some hints for the latest Valentine Missions. We gladly give you some help in this!

The latest Valentine Missions consist of 8 smaller missions. Here are some hints on how to play each one of them.

1. Collect 6 Valentine Cards
You can get those as free gifts from your friends. (If the counter does not count right, please mail us about this at familyfarmservice@gmail.com! Give an accurate description of the problem and don't forget to include your Facebook User ID number!)

2. Get a Love Sign
You'll figure this one out by yourself. :-)

3. Plant and Harvest 60 Love Roses
You'll find this in the New tab in the Store. This mission's reward includes OP.

4. Make 120 Love Cakes
  • Use the Cake Machine.
  • Ingredients are Love Fruit, Egg and Flour.
  • (If the counter does not count right, please mail us about this at familyfarmservice@gmail.com! Give an accurate description of the problem and don't forget to include your Facebook User ID number!)
5. Complete a Love Fountain
All parts can be sent to you as free gifts from neighbors, no RC needed!
The reward includes OP.

6. Buy and complete a Teddy Bear Machine
The Filler and the 3 Switches cost RC, but all the other parts are available as free gifts from neighbors! The reward involves 3 RC.

7. Produce 200 Pink Teddy Bears
The only ingredient is Sheep Wool.

8. Produce 250 White Teddy Bears
The only ingredient is Angora Wool.

These missions require a total of 13 RC to complete of which you get 3 back as a reward. Decide if you want to spend 10 RC on these missions before you start them!

When you have completed all these missions, a sweet animal will be waiting for you in the Gift Box!

Remember: the counters in the missions only start counting AFTER the mission has appeared in your game!

How Do I Fertilize My Neighbors Farm?

Fertilizing your neighbor's plots is simple. You can do this once a day for every neighbor, no matter how many neighbors you have. You can fertilize up to 5 plots per neighbor per day.

To fertilize your neighbor:

  • Visit your neighbor
  • Find a plot with a crop on it
  • Click this plot. You don't need to drag the bags of fertilizer.

Keep the following in mind when you fertilize your neighbor's land!

Which Machines Can I Use Without RC Or Employees?

There are some machines for which you need materials or employees in order to complete them. Fortunately, most machines don’t need all that: you can use them right after you place them on your farm.

Machines for which you need only coins
These are the machines that you can buy with ordinary coins. You don’t need any materials or employees for them.
  • Wine Maker
  • Jam Machine
  • Salami Machine
  • Cheese Master
  • Bakery
  • Ketchup Wiz
  • Sugar Machine
  • Cool Packer
  • Flower Bouquet Machine
  • Weaver
  • Oil Press
  • BBQ Machine
  • Pizza Machine
  • Pie Machine
  • Hot Dog Machine
  • Can Machine
  • Latest addition: Butter Machine
You can build the Perfume Machine without any RC or employees too, but to produce perfume, you need Honey that is made by the Provence Bees. For this beehive, you need some RC after all.

Investment Hint: Fruit Pies from the Pie Machine make good profit.
The Jam Machine in action.

Machines for which you need Materials
For some machines, you need to get materials in order to complete them. You can get many materials as free gifts from your neighbors, but some materials are only available for RC. Below is a list of the machines for which you need materials, with an indication of how many RC you will need for them.
  • Coffee Machine (free gifts + 13 RC)
  • Cake Machine (free gifts + 7 RC)
  • Candy Machine (free gifts + 22 RC)
  • Cream Machine (free gifts + 22 RC)
  • Hamburger Machine (free gifts + 29 RC)
  • Mario's Pizza Machine (Pizza Machine 2) (free gifts + 16 RC)
The Coffee Machine produces different kinds of Coffee.

Machines for which you need employees
Finally, there are 2 machines for which you need to find employees. Or better said: you need to find a few new players for the game. You can only invite Facebook friends for this who do not yet play the game. If you have trouble finding those, the alternative is to hire personnel for 4 RC per person. These are the machines:
  • Yoghurt Machine (5)
  • Beer Machine (5)

I have mailed to Family Farm Service. Why do you not answer?

If, after reviewing these FAQ, your problem is still not solved, you can send an e-mail to familyfarmservice@gmail.com. We will do our best to answer you in a short time. We usually succeed; sometimes we don’t.

If you have not received a response from us within 1 day (24 hours), than this is possibly because of the following reasons.

  • We did mail you back, but your mail address is wrong. Please check if the mail address you registered in Facebook is the same mail address that you are currently using!
  • You sent your mail to the wrong mail address. Please check if you typed the right address!
  • We have overlooked your mail.
  • You have overlooked our response.
  • You have either accidentally thrown our response away, or our response was caught by your spam filter.
  • We got sick, or are so caught up in our work and the overwhelming number of mails you sent us, that we have fallen behind in answering them. In this case, we will answer you a little later.

Before you put angry posts all over Facebook about how bad we treated you by not responding to your e-mail, please make sure to check everything mentioned here. Thanks in advance!

In what languages is Family Farm available?

Family Farm is available in the following languages (alphabetic order):

  • Arabic
  • Chinese (Taiwanese)
  • Dutch/English (Landleven)
  • English (Family Farm)
  • French/English (Super Ferme)
  • German/English (Dorfleben)
  • Italian/English (Fattoria Felice)
  • Thai/English

(list is probably incomplete ;-) )

Can I add neighbors from Family Farm versions in other languages?

No. Family Farm is available in a number of languages, most of which have an English twin. You must be in the same version in order to be neighbors. See elsewhere in this FAQ for an overview of the existing versions of Family Barn.

Can I add neighbors from another game platform?

Family Farm on Facebook is running separately from Family Farm or Family Barn on other platforms. This makes it impossible to add neighbors from other platforms to Family Farm on Facebook.

Only your Facebook friends can be your neighbor in Family Farm.

The game doesn’t load well or doesn’t load at all

The following things may help.
  • Clear cache and cookies of your computer. How to do this, is described on this page:  https://www.facebook.com/help/?page=185360664848864
  • Change your browser.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Reset your router.
  • Make sure you have the most recent version of your browser and Flash Player.
  • Use a different computer if possible.
  • Close all uploads, downloads or programs other than the ones used to play the game.
  • Don’t use the scene called “Snowing”.
  • Don’t make your farm too big.

My game is slow. Why?

The following cases may result in slow operating games:
  • Your farm is big or huge. The bigger your farm, the more objects it has, the more operations the server has to feed, the more chance you have that your game will become slow.
  • You are using the scene “Snowing”. To change your landscape please check [link to other post]
  • Your computer is not fast enough.
  • While playing the game, your computer is uploading or downloading stuff, or has too many programs running at the same time.

I bought RC, but where the hell are they?

There are a few possibilities. We will explain them here.

1.       The RC will be coming later.
When you buy RC, the payment is taken out of your account right away. However, they do not always land in your Family Farm account promptly. It may take up to a few days.

2.       You did not get RC, but you did get Facebook Credits.
It is possible your order of RC ended up in your Facebook account, as Facebook Credits. You can check this yourself:
1.       Go to your Facebook page, and click the little triangular icon in the top right corner of the page.
2.       Click “Account Settings”.
3.       In the next screen, on the left side, click “Payments”.
4.       Check the amount of Facebook Credits you have here, and/or check the History of bought Facebook Credits.
If you have Facebook Credits, you can trade them for RC. Here is how to do this:
a)         Go to your farm screen.
b)         Scroll down, or click the blue button marked “Add Ranch Cash”. You will see this screen:

c)         Choose the package of RC you want to buy. Please make sure you have enough Facebook Credits for this package! (And please make sure you are not paying with real money this time.)
d)         Click the “Buy Now” button.

3.       You did not get RC, nor did you get Facebook Credits
If, a few days after your payment was made, still did not get any RC nor Facebook Credits, you can dispute the order. This is how you do that:

1.       Go to your Facebook page, and click the little triangular icon in the top right corner of the page.
2.       Click “Account Settings”.
3.       In the next screen, on the left side, click “Payments”.
4.       Click to open the “History of bought Facebook Credits”. You will see your most recent purchases.
5.       Find the order you did not really receive, and click to open the proof of acceptance.
6.       It should say that you have bought RC for the game.
7.       Click “Dispute”.

By doing this, you trigger a notification that is sent to us, saying you did pay money, but did not receive the order of RC.

4.       When all else fails...
If you tried all the above, and still are convinced that you paid for your order, but didn’t receive (all of) it? Please mail us at familyfarmservice@gmail.com. In your mail, please state:
  • That you have visited this page and have checked all the possibilities mentioned above;
  • Your Facebook User ID (the url you find in the browser’s address bar when you are on your own Facebook Profile);
  • The payment record of your bank, or the payment confirmation in your mobile phone, or any other proof of payment, containing at least your account number and transaction ID, the amount of money you paid, and the date and exact time the payment was made.
Of course, we are of the opinion that we should deliver what you paid for. So we will do our best to transfer the RC you have purchased to your game account as soon as possible. Please keep in mind: the more accurate you follow the instructions in this post, the better chance that we can help you very fast.

If you have any other questions about your payment, please mail us at familyfarmservice@gmail.com.
As we are human just like you, we don't appreciate being shouted at, being scolded or being accused without grounds. Thanks for your consideration.

Why do I need so many RC?

We often receive questions from players asking why some Family Farm items require RC. Here’s why.

To continue the development of a game like Family Farm, requires money. Except from things like desks and computers, we also want to provide a decent salary for all the programmers, designers, translaters, etcetera. To make that possible, and to make little profit on top of that, we need income. We have several sources of income, not the least of which is the selling of RC for the game. Without this source of income, we would not be able to create and continuously develop this game that our players love so much.

That is why some items or actions in the game can or, in a few cases, have to be bought using RC.

Of course, we don’t want to exaggerate. To our philosophy, even without buying RC with real money, the game has to remain fun to play. That is why many things, among which the most essential things, are obtainable with either the standard game coins, or with smaller amounts of RC (amount for which it is humanly possible to save up RC’s that you can earn for free in the game).

Free RC
You can earn free RC in the game by leveling up, or by logging in to the game on a daily basis. If you login every day, your Daily Login Bonus can increase to as many as 10 RC per week!

How do I get OP?

OP are points or credits to feed the Automatic Pilot. When you use OP, your machines and animals will produce by themselves. You don’t have to feed them manually. Using OP also allows you to plant or harvest 4 or 9 plots in just one click.

There are various ways to get OP.

A: Buy OP in the Shop.
Go to the Shop, go to Farm Aides, and open the tab Automation. You can (spend RC to) buy the OP package of your choice.

B: Accomplish missions and level up.
The reward for some missions involve a number of OP. The same goes for the reward for reaching a higher level.

C: Exchange gifts.
Most gifts you receive from neighbors, can be traded for OP. Go to your Gift Box, and find the items that you want to exchange for OP. Then click “Trade”.
Hint: Some players even ask specificly for a gift they intend to trade!

How can I request (wish for) a gift?

If you are tired of receiving gifts that you find useless, try expressing your gift wishes to your neighbors. This is how you do that:

1.       Click the blue botton marked “Free Gifts”. It is on the top of your farm screen
2.       A screen filled with gifts will open. Find the gift you wish to receive and press “Request”.

Your gift request is now sent. It will appear in your neighbor’s Gift Panel, which opens when they click the little green icon on the top right hand corner of their farm screen. Your gift request will show under “Wishes”. Your neighbor can now send the gift you requested, by clicking “Send”.

How can I accept presents?

The best way to accept presents, is through the little Request icon on the top right corner of your farm screen.

When you click this, the Gift Panel will open. It shows you all presents that your neighbors have sent to you (as well as the gifts that they want you to sent to them).

If neighbors have sent gifts to you, you can accept them by clicking “Accept”. Your accepted gifts will appear in your Gift Box.
